Memories of a Mirror
Wet and naked; curious hands on sides.
Observing, questioning, squinting eyes,
Trying to decipher
Blurred, distant images,
Through mirror’s fogged surface.
In the dim, faint light;
Glaring, magnifying, whispering, confusing,
Condensing spots on the cold surface.
Strained, shivering hands;
Gripping, hugging on themselves.
Suppressed, constricted images surfaces,
And the hollowed heart’s infinite abyss.
Frantic, unrestricted rogue’s hands!
The lamenting mirror cries,
Reflecting dried tears, dead eyes.
Into the night a candle burns;
For the broken, scattered mirror,
Caught in whose pieces;
Shadows of two lives,
Memories and shades of love.
