Country Girl Growing Up

Country Girl Growing Up

Part 1
Monster under My Bed

The restroom was so far away
I rise from my leisure jumping from my bed
I ran as not to get caught by unseen hands
that lived under my bed

On the way back I stood by the door
watching the bed so far away
afraid to return to my slumber
a fifty yard dash in two seconds
to quick for those hands
I made the long jump

Bed Post Owl

I lay awake
being chastise by the bed post owl
it carefully watches my every move
no sleep for this girl

Sleepless Nights

I roam the dark
while all were asleep
moonlight shine through window pane
and guided my steps into the shadows

three little girls sharing a bed
two little girls fast asleep
as shadow guards lay next to them
one little girl sits on the bed
wide awake watching them sleep
the moonlight disappear
she falls asleep before the dawn

Drunken Jealous Rage

He was a man carrying a gun
loud voices, fighting in the night
wanting to see who was there
my white teeth was all he saw
when he aim to pull the trigger
mommy screams she is your child

She’s Mine, No She’s Mine

Caught between two fighting parent
a baby girl, their first-born
survives a silly tug of war
falling into the hearth of fire
the swaddling blanket that sheltered her
did not cover her precious arm

I am sorry

Smiles:) Barbara My hubby said I was mean. been working on tact and being loving for years, but my brain doesn't connect well in that area at times, is why people avoid me. I have learn to apologize so people are now realizing I do want to be better.

Barbara

Great poems, Liked them all and could relate. Monster under the bed was my favorite although the drunken rage was really scarey also. BTW, my sister in law Barbara can't stand being called Barb either. I can quite understand. Be well my friend. Rett: "At twenty, if you are not a Liberal, you have no heart. At Thirty, if you are not a Conservative, you have no brain." Winston Churchill

Thanks Rett

Smiles:) Barbara Appreciate your comment. I try not to be so sensitive about my name, but barb erks me. I don't know why it do. It seems to be common among Barbaras' I'm hearing. Still no reason for me to be mean, but thanks for understanding. The last stanza flowed well to me at first, but now it seems not to. gonna revise it a little.
