The Book of Whispers

Qualified searches
for things you must know,
like something that continually occurs;

can only be found
chapter and verse neatly bound,
in the hardbound, Book of Whispers.

Shouldn't surprise you
Fate governs life, not.
But, when reality and fantasy blurs;

history may rule,
but hope can be cruel,
'tis written in the Book of Whispers.

This is not to say
truth won't have it's day,
but if Mirth gets the cauldron, and stirs;

all reasoning's up,
so don't drink from that cup,
you can't blame it on the Book of Whispers.

Curious, this mix.
That can unbalance the "fix",
where warmth flows from golden embers;

but sure as they glow,
the skies will cause snow,
to get it's name in the Book of Whispers.

Answers aren't set in stone,
so just leave things alone,
logic only tries and assures;

that the "norm" will prevail,
but each moment's so frail,
ambiguous, is the Book of Whispers.

If this book, you've not seen,
you'll still know what I mean,
when you try and read what matters;

conjecture is "fact",
when reasoning is "packed",
with rules from the Book of Whispers.

There's a pamphlet you'll need
to make sense as you read,
a White Witch lent me a copy of hers;

it may seem "moronic",
to explain the ironic,
but it's all in the Book of Whispers.

Every chance you look
into this book,
and with everything this subject offers;

the answers surface sublime,
one page at a time,
from the bonded Book of Whispers.

But, if you're confused
get a copy that's used,
and count all the times evil conquers,

then subtract times so sweet,
that they tickled your feet,
and cherish the logic from the Book of Whispers.

Not to me.

WTF is the book of whispers? When you first came onto this site you were making the difficult transition from song-writer to poet. You achieved some brilliant successes. Now you seem to have transitioned into some kind of cultist preacher. Very sad to see. This poem could be quite interesting without the book of whispers mystic crap. Tell me I'm wrong. cheers, Jess

This is not to saytruth

This is not to say truth won’t have it’s day, but if Mirth gets the cauldron, and stirs; all reasoning’s up, so don’t drink from that cup, ‘cause you can’t blame the Book of Whispers. The title grabbed me straight away. Just one thing bothered me and it was the last line of the above verse. It's a personal thing but I hate to see 'cause in a poem - don't ask me why. I felt if you dropped it and stuck to 'You can't blame the book of whispers' it reads ok. See what you think Apart from that I love the theme, especially that verse. I also like the way you have used esoteric references. Not sure if you are having a go at alternative belief systems or just using them to illustrate your point but I still enjoyed the read. Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

The poem...

..was really just a bit of "folly". So sorry to have offended you or anyone, for that matter, "elf". Mr. Dean Koontz almost always leads a chapter, with a quote from something called, "The Book of Shadows". I personally don't know, or even care if such a work exists or not; but I thought it might be a fun excercise, to try and write something in the same regard. As for your comment, Kaz...you're probably correct, but as I said...I was just having some fun with it. Certainly not "preaching". Sorry to be so "blasphemous" towards the art of poetry. Regards, Doc.

my sense of follly seemed to have abandoned me when I wrote that comment. I now see and appreciate what you are doing here. Pulling one foot out of my mouth while I shoot myself in the other. cheers, Jess
