The Buzzards

Did you see that big buzzard
in his long white coat,
making circles in his office
prescribing little notes.
There is one in the courtroom
look at the suit he's got on,
did he help or did he fry you,
pull the meat from your bones.

The last-line of society,
they can't wait till you're dead,
so they circle your struggles
and take all you have left.
They sit in their offices
knowing you'll show up soon,
we all have some problems,
face our own troubled dooms.

I know... they worked hard,
sitting on their asses in school,
they gave up years for your money,
too educated for the golden rule.

Turned themselves into doctors
and lawyers telling lies,
pouncing on our misfortunes
and smile when we arrive.

They forgot about us,
how we've kept them alive,
built their homes, cleaned their toilets,
made the roads they drive.
Did you see that big buzzard
no lost sleep in his eyes
modern day vultures
preying on sick and lost lives.

what can I say other than perhaps change one or two of the buzzards to another bird of prey I see you've used vulture already . what about the first line did you see that bird pf prey fourth stanza how about something like blood thirsty ( what you call it) do you see where I am going with this otherwise that is a very mild rant you are angry show it. How about a little addition to the title The Buzzards of The Earth I do like that first stanza now lets see more righteous angry Richard I know it is in there Chrystalie

I like this a lot Moonman -

I like this a lot Moonman - I agree with Chrys though and think to develop the bird theme would be a really good way to go. Perhaps adding to Buzzard with Vulture, Hawk or even Magpie? They all prey or steal - see what you think. This is really good and has the potential to become something really special - great work! Hi Ladies...

I've changed it a bit.. I thought when submitted I had gone overboard with the buzzards... maybe this is more clear and less repetitive.. thanks for reading and giving me suggestions ... Richard

They forgot about us, how

They forgot about us, how we’ve kept them alive, built their homes, cleaned their toilets, made the roads they drive. I love these lines. That's the heart of it - without us they would be nothing. I love the revisions, it works brilliantly for me. Your timing posting this poem is uncanny - lol - I had a very heated debate with a senior council official today, another jobsworth, but lets not go there. Without council tax he would not have a job! lol - rant over! I love this poem. Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

Will have to revisit this one, but love what I'm seeing so far!! Chaos? Disorder? Destruction? My job here is done.. Angry and funny at the same

Angry and funny at the same time, seems to want a very biting caricature cartoon to accompany it. My only suggestion: change asses to arses, rings better in my ear, has more of an edge, but that is only my ear. You know what they say: an ass by any another name would smell as... well, you get the picture. Good write! Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)

Hi Chuck...

thank you for reading... I don't mean to say that all doctors and lawyers are out for money and that's all but just from my general observations for the most part it is true.. sad isn't it. Not to say there aren't some well meaning ones out there it just hasn't been my privelidge to meet them.. thank you again.. Richard

Lost you in the Spotlight

Something crashed and when I came back you were gone - as was my comment! Grrr. You chose a great theme here and everything works for you; rhyme, rhythm, flow. I've really seen you present some new styles lately. Great work, Richard! Best, Ronda

themoonman...HELL YEAH...

I absolutely love rage poetry; this one really sinks its teeth into me, funny when your in a mood how sometimes the poem can find you, or sometimes when you read you can get the same realease from reading as if you wrote it yourself; as much as I would love to critique right now I don't think I can; strange mix of adrenilene and tranquilty running through me after reading this :) Thanks for posting this Frost

Hmmm . . .

mixed feelings about this as I know some doctors and lawyers who have gone above and beyond and also know the frustration of working with a lot of people who try and exploit the system from the patient/client side. That said, I remember going to my doctor many years ago and being told I had to pay BEFORE seeing the doctor and being outraged. Little did I know this would become common practice (and that my visit would get shorter). My only other comment is that doctors and lawyers are easy targets. What about law enforcement, CPS/APS, undertakers, etc.? And, do we blame vultures (the actual birds) for being vultures? Should human consciousness allow us to circumvent a predator-prey system? Your poem raises lots of important questions.

I dearly love it when you comment, you are exactly correct too. There are many that actually care about the individual patient or client. My regular doctor is one of them, but I have seen some that this poem fits to a tee. Lawyers, there are many stories about the lawyer going to extremes on cases, but I've never met one of these type lawyers, I've only met the ones that want your money. I love your point about the vulture... damn that was good. Do we need the vulture, indeed we do. just as we need the doctors and lawyers and undertakers, and all the rest of us that tend to clean up behind man and his many mistakes... but I can't help but see the buzzard in many men, for the caring is gone from their eyes, be it over-exposure to our needy needs... maybe, but it is still there. thanks for the great comment! Richard
