Viscral

gravy settles on a steamed plate
stew such sweet breads
stuffed with blessed vitals
a table set for one less
he hasn't been here since..
well since he had his
"break down"
Not that we can see how
such a mellow person
could just snap
in our routine home
where everything
is in its proper place
everyone here behaves
nobody steps out of line
no shenanigans to speak of
such an environment as this
really is a blessing for one
as distressed as he was
a sterile environment
takes time to get used to
if only he had stayed longer...

You ‘took me there’. I

You 'took me there'. I read this a few times and felt and saw everything. I can relate to this at many levels and I like the way you used the quotes for 'break down',don't ask me why, it just seems to work well here. just one question - what is a stemmed plate? I don't think I have come across this before. Cheers Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.
