How Can I Tell...?
How can I tell...
if my life is complete?
Will I have no more turmoil
to knock me off of my feet?
Then will all go as planned?
wouldn't that be so sweet!
If only we could side-step the rain.
How can I tell...
if I've created good friends?
Must I wait for the "means"
to justify the "ends"?
In the grand scheme of things,
'tis we, that picks our favorite trends;
It's unjust to blame all bad things on the rain.
How can I tell...
come time to pay my life's bill,
was my life worthwhile
or was I just charged by each thrill?
Fate's generousity, surprises me still;
'twould be petty to bring up the rain.
Now, I can tell
at the end of the day,
and when all the smoke clears
and life's fog fades away;
a world painted in black and white,
will always have plenty of grey;
I was right, not to blame just the rain.
if my life is complete?
Will I have no more turmoil
to knock me off of my feet?
Then will all go as planned?
wouldn't that be so sweet!
If only we could side-step the rain.
How can I tell...
if I've created good friends?
Must I wait for the "means"
to justify the "ends"?
In the grand scheme of things,
'tis we, that picks our favorite trends;
It's unjust to blame all bad things on the rain.
How can I tell...
come time to pay my life's bill,
was my life worthwhile
or was I just charged by each thrill?
Fate's generousity, surprises me still;
'twould be petty to bring up the rain.
Now, I can tell
at the end of the day,
and when all the smoke clears
and life's fog fades away;
a world painted in black and white,
will always have plenty of grey;
I was right, not to blame just the rain.
