Time of Trial

I've traveled many a mile,
through a plethora of weather fronts,
with and without any companionship...
plus, a varying degree of hazards, all the while;
and still, I have traveled on, earnestly...
complaining, not.

This road I'm traveling, now
is causing the "adventure part" of this journey
to dissipate like sunshine in the rain.
The sunshine's still there, above the clouds-but they won't allow
the light to accompany me, down my pathway;
causing me to stumble in the shadows.

Thus, the miles seem much longer, now
and coupled with the grade of this slope, I am wrestling with...
it appears weariness, is trying it's best to weigh me down.
But, I mustn't allow gravity to win this battle,
for I have never quit before, and shan't quit, now.
So great, is my need to persevere.

I really must see this leg of the journey, through.
My abilities and stamina are being tested,
as is my integrity, my patience,
my value as a person, and my legacy, too.
So, I pray you'll be patient with me, during this "time of trial"...
and soon, we will share the view from the vista.
