Drama Queen

The old drama queen
turns, faces the camera
and the eye blinks:

"I'm ready for my close-up,"
she coughs, a fine cobweb
of spittle balancing on her chin,

she used to be such a great
beauty, full of dramatic
perversion, but she fell in love with
the wicked clown with happy feet

go home now.

the play is finished.

go home now.

take the shroud off the empty mirror.

The play

never finishes Anna dear we just stop acting within it and become the play itself. A poignant image you have painted here. Keith

Me? I'll just take on a new role

The tragic ex-lothario, finally realising his charms were a cruel play, romance as rape. Now he makes amends by using his charm to spread his memes, not his seed. mmmm, could be a poem in that, thanks for the inspiration and the poignant read, cheers, Jess
