Life Is Like A Bukowski Poem

Life Is Like A Bukowski Poem
public, raw and ugly
no punches held
back,
rough, red scars on a
beaten-down body
a drunken Soul
thirsting for more,

as if you're defending
your own all-alone life,
as if an energy
sucks you through
to the other side
where his poems
live

oh, so fuckingly beautifully,
alive.

have you read John Fante?

He is about the only writer Bukowskie admits as an influence. Well, i may be overstating that. Anyway read "Ask the dust" . Nasty, challenging and strangely sweet. cheers, Jess

Kaila

Hmmm... Don't think I've ever read any of Bukowski's work, but I'm-a gonna go in search for some now! Sounds like he writes in my type of style. Jess? Any suggestions as to which work to start on? Good job! ~Lynn (Jess K.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the hell is the ceiling??"

Hi Lynn, (I love dragons) If

Hi Lynn, (I love dragons) If you go to a bookstore, and look for whatever book they have of his, and let it grab YOU, you'll be fine... If you search under Amazon, etc. and a title jumps out at you, it'll do... Jess, any John Fonte who is a friend of Bukowski's is a friend of mine;-) Richard, thank you for your comments. I always want to do justice to Bukowski, I am vindicated!! (Which by the way, is from my favourite opera: Vincero ~ Turandot.) White Tea, (Love white tea, it's better for you than green! and your love your Kimono) when I was a Realtor, a couple who lived in a very very very fabulous house, had a magnificent antique kimono from I-forget-which dynasty on the 3 or 4 story cavernous entryway encased in glass. It was absolutely gorgeous. I never wanted anything so badly as that kimono (& a house like that to display it) Did I tell you the house was fabulous? lol. I digress. I bow to your saying "it has identity". Thank you. Thanks all for reading one of my tributes to a real man! ~a

We still have a $50 gift card to one of the local stores here... will try to find some of his work there. ~Lynn (Jess K.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the hell is the ceiling??"
