Why Am I Trying?
As every sunset ensues
in the world there are souls
with heavy hearts
who question,"Why am I trying?"
They are found at their windows
and lonely doorsteps
quietly pondering if their actions
have enlightened the outside world.
And found are the victims
of heartbreak and ridicule
who believe that no intervention
will help their pain filled resolve.
But regardless of mortal burden
the earth still turns
for each counted life
though the next sunrise beckons.
And I leave to the souls
heeding the welcome sunshine
that I,too,am trying
questioning my existence as well.
in the world there are souls
with heavy hearts
who question,"Why am I trying?"
They are found at their windows
and lonely doorsteps
quietly pondering if their actions
have enlightened the outside world.
And found are the victims
of heartbreak and ridicule
who believe that no intervention
will help their pain filled resolve.
But regardless of mortal burden
the earth still turns
for each counted life
though the next sunrise beckons.
And I leave to the souls
heeding the welcome sunshine
that I,too,am trying
questioning my existence as well.
