Splintered Fragments

I have no innocent illusions.     I only have deep voids.
There's only delusions  in my head.
Can you forgive my splintered fragments?     Can you calm my angry voice?
Distract me with your itellectual intercourse
and watch me trip on philosophy like slippery rocks
and then you'll see me as I really am.
                                                   Lost and Broken.
And ,there, you stand,           looking like the answer,
Wanting to lick my salty tears and bandage my bleeding wounds
And at my core I tremble,         because all I could think ,    is you already know too much.

Form and surrender

So Lacy is that an X for your surrendered kiss? Or perhaps a pacman demon? lol. Only love would see you as you really are, philosophy and intellect would merely find the words to express what knowledge the heart had given up, wanting it to be found. There are deep questions and fears of discovery expressed in your poem Lacy but you convey the inevitable sense of one who knows the answers are already there staring you in the face and can no longer be held at arms length. A deeply personal poem but i enjoyed its honesty and raw, questioning tone. Your Proff

Haunting write

I first read this earlier this morning and it lingered in my mind. If you were wondering how the structure of the poem came out....it worked very well on my screen and to my reading. The spaces underline the "splintered fragments" line very well. A very fine poem Poet, and as I said, it lingered in my mind. Thanks for posting it. Pleides

Thank you both.

As always your comments are appreciated.Pleides,I'm glad you caught the structural meaning, and the fact that it lingered is high praise indeed. And my dear professor, you know me too well, this is very personal and as for honesty, well,if I can't be honest with myself when I write, then who can I be honest with. Lacy

I like the structure of your poem, I think it presented very well. You really laid yourself bare with this poem. I think we all have moments of insecurity and doubt. I can easily relate to this piece. Always, Cat

So refreshingly heartfelt, this ...

piece. I think on one level it's as if you're saying, "Keep your distance. If you come close, you may see those things about me that even I don't want to see or know." And then, if you can forgive me, I dare to alter an important pronoun: "Can I forgive my splintered fragments? Can I calm my angry voice?" There is much more, of course. This comes rich with honesty/intimacy. It rings true. Thanx, Chuck
