Stars And Stripes

Stars and stripes will never fade
through vibrant colors its strengths have paid
for freedoms We cherish, our gifts from the heart
bringing worlds together from worlds apart.

Stars and stripes will never tear
as its fabrics are held by liberty with care.
She is proof that We fight, standing strong on Our feet
being swift in Our victory, and slow to retreat.

Stars and Stripes knows no demise
in storms of great rage,Our eagle flies.
And We follow its path, walking bold in Our shoes,
showing faith as we must, while living just as We choose.

Stars and Stripes will never fear
                      loving neighbors abroad,warning enemies near,
that we have great witness where Heaven is made,
who knows Stars and Stripes will never fade.

slowly though

We are starting to see those liberties fade. Use 'em, or they will go away. Nice, tight work here. ~Lynn (Jess K.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "If guns kill people, then I can blame mis-spelled words on my pencil.." - Larry the Cable Guy ~ "Driver carries less than $20 in remorse..."

There is a reason for this one.......

This was the first poem I wrote, penned in the summer of 2001.I had never tried my hand at poetry in a serious manner before then, and I submitted it to POETRY.COM.It was instantly published in a compilation book, and I have been writing since.I felt that the write was fitting,in light of the WTC tragedy.People need to see a better picture even when bad things happen. And I know we are resilient enough to do so.Im glad you liked this one.I welcome your future comments. Your friend,in peace, Scott.
