Kali Meets Medusa

O how I have been seduced by this
stale bread of life!
billions of incarnations
leaving me awkward,
like a newborn
fawn, guarded by secret,
lush thickets
of deeply
held animal lust,
but you see, in my self-immolating
dragon's play
passion's embers seldom die,
fire is but the next breath away,

and the crown of thorns is a flower
that grows close to the heart of bewilderment
transfixed in the all-seeing eye

by the sea, by that terrible torment of a sea,

… the wind came to me tousled my hair,
lying in the still carpet of another dawn
as skin crawled over
raven bones, whispered of fish drowning in
an avalanche of jealous water,

but I am a woman now, a crone hunchbacked
and pregnant with life,

serpents, like tender babies, crawling over my
bowed head.

I think this line should

I think this line should read: "like a newborn fawn," as the break seems more natural here. This is a great poem to be read aloud. Wonderful metaphors and subject matter. Mythology at its best. Favorite lines: "but you see, in my self-immolating dragon’s play passion’s embers seldom die, fire is but the next breath away," Always, Cat

Good Poem

Feel how you want to feel cause it dosen't matter in the end.Say for instance if I were with you we both can't die at the same time someone would have to miss the other sooner or later. So how about I miss you before it comes to that exclude me off your buddy list I'll thank you for that cause we too far away to see where each other are at.So splat said the fly swatter to the fly, I'm irratating buzz buzz then I die cause I got to be the fly.So just swat along and get along with your life.If this hurt's you, then you better believe this hurt's me twice. With poetry only poets pay the price.

Thanks for the comments and

Thanks for the comments and views. strange..i could have sworn I already responded did i not click submit? i thought i did. strange... anyhow... Jess...are u sure u r not Jussie...an old friend... and i smoked u out with a GODDESS poem? i remember u always loved Goddess poems... cat...whatever mysterious force writes through me...it does weird things like stops in strange places... as if... the moment is needed at the end of a sentence to imbibe the question. newborn....what? a split of a split second... fawn... yes. fawn... it could have been anything...but she wrote "fawn". and Emmanuel... wouldn't you want to write an ending where you and your Beloved died in the same moment? no-one to mourn and grieve the other? ...to sleep... however, that fly swatter of God's, does hit and miss sometimes, eh? ~a
