Greener Pastures
when granite pillars sag
once gateways to
sacred realms
built by slave labor
with materials bought
by coins
extracted
from faithful
mystified followers
awed by crafty props
bolstered by tales
of pits of fire
or streets of gold
built on captured
expectations
of a much better
here after yet
similar enough
to appease
the expectations
of jittery investors
