A Simple Wish

In your sadness
You are alone

We are all alone

But still I am desperate
To envelop you in my arms
Protect you from the harsh weather
And feel your beating heart
Against mine
Thumping with saddened synchronicity
The only true sympathy I know.

If you can feel my love
My heart against yours
Perhaps I can ease your sorrow.

Oh dear - how will I ever

Oh dear - how will I ever address you without a smile while looking at that funny avatar? OK, now to the poem: This was a beautiful message and well-written poem. I especially adored "saddened synchronicity" not only for the beautiful alliteration, but the melody of the words combined is just that: saddened - in time with another - it has that "minor key" shared sorrow - makes me melt kind of vibe. There is no substitute for a heartfelt embrace, especially when you are lonely and hurting. You have done that with your poem: hugged anyone who is hurting - who may read this. That is a true gift - I can think of no other reason more worthy of writing. Bravo, Amara

Thank you, that was its

Thank you, that was its intent. I won't go into the personal reasons for this sympathetic work, just pleased a true poet sees in it what was intended. Avatar: When I joined this site I decided it would be fun to change my avatar at the end of every month--this is my favourite so far... Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)

Alobar...

Sympathy is feeling sorry for someone; there by making yourself superior & gives you a dettachment; that not what I get from this. I have found it harder to comfort someone then to go and destory that which is causing them the pain. No what I get from this is empathy; that takes true strength, putting yourself in anothers place & supporting them through it is an action of love; selfless & difficult. Good write Frost

Exactly. It was written from

Exactly. It was written from a place of powerlessness, hearing a pain of a loved-one over the phone, far away, and wanting to heal, knowing there is no salve save time. Still, I long to be there, to do what I can. Thank you. Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)
