Northumberland Tears

Ships are burning
On a hill I gave a chalice
May its forgiveness of tears
Wash clean the cavity where your heart
Once resided

Vikings and their long ships
Looted emotions they have taken
Given away to animals mired in mud
Under trees weeping I feed you bones
May you grow another heart

Flotsam and Jetsam
Hulls on fire stream blood to heaven
Sunset wolves call from distant shorelines
I pour a stream of tears over your limbs
I mend what you could not

Sounds of surf upon stone
Crescent Moon tells of a leaving time
Black ponies await to carry me away
Back over hill and swale to another country
Where pain has not set his roof tree

I gave you a crystal vessel
Carrying my love in its shimmering shape
Give it to Chiron so he may know
Once you were loved
At the bottom   his coins   your passage   await
