Pornographic Dreams

Pornographic dreams fighting against age
Restoring youth
Or so we’d believe
And fuelling a passion for life
That never really burns
Just flashes brightly, once,
Like magnesium flairs on blackest night sky
Then, again, nothingness
And the same old blank page
The same old blank look
The same old blank man.

Pornographic dreams
Simply
End, and nothing has changed.

After my porn phase, I looked back at porn

most of the thrill was in the blurbs on the cover of the magazine or video cover. They seldom live up to what is promised, yet I noticed that those blurbs defined my selections none the less.I invite you to read one of my poems "Explicit" In ink, Dabbler

I was trying to write about

I was trying to write about a little bit more than just porn. Porn is a thing from our youths, our just-past-puberty time; I was trying to depict the desire to go back to that time, the simplicity of youthful lusts and fantasy. They can never be again. In our growth, our distance from the shallowness of youth, we have, it may sometimes feel, lost something; and yet, we know we are better for it. I think I may think further on this poem, perhaps add to it. Thank you for your comments. (I read Explicit, and commented--what is it about poems to do with sex and sexual themes, that just loves the acrostic form? I've done the same myself, many times. Quite enjoyed yours.) The idealism seems to slip with the

increase in the degree of exposure.Stashing away our real connection to sexuality, instead or developing relationships to explore physical intimacy we seek it in instructional print, I always perfered the letters to the picture mags. You are not far from your objective with this theme.I suggest reading "Porn Row" written by an antropoligist during the hay day of the Smut Shops. In ink, Dabbler

Fantasies

Yes, fantasies are by definition - pretend. When we face reality, it is often dull in comparison and we may not like who we have come to be- we may prefer to dream of still being young and filled with promise and raging hormones. I think the word "pornographic" is what threw me. It carries such disprespectful images with it - I find it hard to imagine wanting to lose myself in such dreams and I don't associate pornography with youth as much as dirty old men - maybe that was your point, but it seemed to be about revisiting fantasies you had in your youth, maybe even experiences.

No more of that

I only really got the theme of porn from the title. The poem gave off as some old man trying to relive his youth. I'm actually glad you didnt write about porn. Porn from an old man's point of view is, well, relatively disturbing. It's a good poem, expand upon it if you wish, but I feel the theme is well stated.
