A ptarmic pollen ...

I speak severely to my boy,
I beat him when he sneezes ...

                             ---Lewis Carroll

A ptarmic pollen ...

Has within my nose
In springtide fallen.

This neb brazen blows:
Brass trumpet's callin'.

She's blushed vivid rose;
How fitly gallin'!

(ptarmic = sternutatory
neb = another word for nose)

Hey Chuck

Yes it is that time of year again and the pollen is thick. Oh my poor red inflamed nose! I do so detest allergy season and all this hypersensitivity. As usual your words are clever and amusing. Now pardon me while I burry my nose in a box of tissues. Always, Cat

Cute Ducky!

Pollen, pollen - there it goes Pollen, pollen - up my nose Pollen, pollen - in my hair Pollen, pollen - everywhere In Janice's chat the other night, her theme was spring, so I wrote this little nonsensical thing on the spot. Ahh, but we just had 3 days of rain, so now it's all clean (for the moment) Great poem! ~Jess ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "Bush is listening.... use big words!" ~ I don't SUFFER from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!"

Thought I'd use a few big words ...

in this piece so as to flummox Bush (et al.) (Just to confuse him further (hopefully), flummox means fuddle, befog, discombobulate, consternate.) Buster's being coy, but I think he suspects he's cute. Frankly, he ought to know it; after all, he is, I agree. Thanx for the clever Pollen, pollen ... very nice. Contains a hippity-hopping, singsongy child's beat. Makes bright light of a sometimes chronic (and exasperating) problem. And thanx for reading ... and commenting. Yours, Chuck

Bush isn't...

The only chap that was befuddled. If you hadn't said what 'ptarmic' meant, I would have needed to look it up. Little Buster looks like he's trying so desperately hard in that picture to go catch up to his buddies in the sky! (either that, or he's on ice for the first time) :~\ ~Lynn (Jess K.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "If guns kill people, then I can blame mis-spelled words on my pencil.." - Larry the Cable Guy ~ "Driver carries less than $20 in remorse..."

good work.

I read poetry mostly for the feel and or flow. And this came out really well. Its a mark of a seasoned poet to occasionaly include a quote... forgot what its called in the poetry world.
