Reversible Trials

you are held by metaphorical straps
 attached to your throat
secured at our command
a long confinement to begin
"Sit tight,we wouldn't want
you to leave unannounced."

as binding contracts require signatures
a pen grafted to your finger
scrawls on command
a short denouncement will
substantially reduce fall-out
"From those unfounded  rumors
you have carelessly avowed "

Dabbler

A good write. Leaves me with a feeling of claustrophobia, as if trapped in a moment with no room to breathe. Ronda

kafkaesque

and i agree with rhonda, the atmosphere leaves no room for breath! also reminiscent of orwell in some way: as though the protagonist has no hope of sparking a rebellion against whatever bureaucratic power imprisons and mocks him. great job!

Thanks Quill

The illusion that we can leave anytime we want if we just initiate confidence,is a prelude to invoked insanity.then when you are out of your mind with critical opposition they parade you as the mad former revolter."See!" they say "His ways against ours eventually drove him mad."In the land where reason is considered insane... I wish to be confined for protection from the idiots that are foolish enough with "power and leverage" to destroy. They seek first to discredit critical thinkers since most write they must first have a denouncement to the threating text. How much research has been lost to this?thankfully they can not kill the students. In ink, Dabbler
