Zen Detritus

if every crumb was placed back together
to recreate a cracker
pasted near as new
would we take notice?

a bag of busted pieces clutched in tight
to project security
glued to your person
will anybody scrutinize?

rubbish set off to one side in stacks too high
to create rich compost
rotten around us
can it be smelled?
