Tinker, Space Cat

Tinker, Space Cat

Tinker comes from Catulon
A planet of feline rule
Where all humans serve the cats
And the kittens go to school

Cadets they learn to read and write
Then on to solve equations
Swimming is another class
They have on some occasions

Mostly they learn space languages
Venutian and fine Martian
And many more they’re taught to speak
By whiskered teacher Doordarshun.

On their graduation day
They get their license to fly
Many of them hurry off
Taking directly to the sky.

Now Tinker is well traveled
He’s well versed in every lingo
His best friend from Australia
Is a wild dog he calls dingo.

Tinker trains the birds to sing
And the porpoises to talk
He is the best young teacher here
He taught many fish to walk

Tinker loves the planet Earth
And the living beings here
I know for sure he told me
He whispered it in my ear.

But Tinker soon will go away
He misses friends back home
He says he won’t forget us
But nevermore will he roam.

LOL Chrys,

You dream and get sexy steamy dreams of riding horses with a mysterious man and I get space cats! LOL! I wonder if it isn't an effect of hearing my beloved snoring in my sleep... Taking directly to the sky might indeed work better. Thanks for the suggestion! Always, Cat

Aww

I immediately smiled when reading this. It reminds me of the poem "Mcavity the Mystery Cat" but with more creative images. It's nice reading a change of pace and feeling young at heart. I needed a few laughs.

Fun and frolic

OK Cat if this is how it is in your dreams then fine. But fun or serious the Prof expects you to keep the rhythm going relentlessly if that is your chosen form. So in that vein perhaps the following might help to remedy a few lapses/repetitions along the way...or was that miaows? lol How about: "Cadets they learn to read and write Then on to solve equations Swimming is another class They have on some occasions" "Mostly they learn space languages Both Venutian and fine Martian And many more they're taught to speak By whiskered teacher Doordarshun." "Tinker trains the birds to sing And the porpoises to talk He's the best young teacher here Who's taught many fish to walk" "Now Tinker is well traveled And versed in every lingo His best friend from Australia Is a wild dog he calls dingo." "But Tinker soon will go away He misses friends back home He says he won’t forget us But nevermore will roam." Not that i would dream of editing your dreams of course Cat. lol Keith

Thanks Keith!

I tried to make the changes a few times, sometimes it accepted them and others it didn't. It was the weirdest thing! I'll try again later. Now we have co-written a poem :) Always, Cat

Hi Cat, fucking awesome well

Hi Cat, fucking awesome well done. I would jsut say you could make it better by perfecting the rhythm of the peice. It's nearly classic ballad form, the jaunt is there! I think it'd jsut make it seem even more fun, for an example of the ballad form (not to say you don't know I'm just covering all bases) take a look at my very first poem :D "How to die gracefully" Will your roll ever stop? (Not that I wish bad luck upon you :P) Kieran "Mind, how you go!" - Roger McGough's poem for LSD Awareness Week

Thanks Kieran,

I've got a few klinkers out here. My story "Deceptive Desires" didn't go over very well, I had to write a whole third section to please the readers, LOL! I'll check out the poem you mentioned. Always, Cat

Not Depressed

I'm so happy Tinker did not fall into depression here and lose sight of his way home. I hope he took some lost souls with him :) Wishing Tinker a safe journey :) Mark

My cat sits on my desk next

My cat sits on my desk next to the monitor when I'm at the computer. She has an odd look upon her face right now, I certainly hope she is not planning on returning to Catulon as well. I'm quite fond of her, and her whispers.... the plural of lingoes rhymed with dingo stuck in my throat. If I might: He's well-versed in every lingo

Hey Alobar

I have four cats and all of them have blue eyes. They sit all over me and the computer (I have a laptop) Thanks for pointing that out to me. I took care of it. Always, Cat

I'm pleased to announce ...

that cats do like me, with rare exception, something I can't say about the mob of backyard hawks that want my pet white duck to be left apart from me alone outdoors at their pseudomercy. I'm sorry I haven't met Tinker. A great cat. But really no more talented than cats in general. You've created a delightful read here. The kind of creativity evidenced so makes my day. (Silly things do go together: like horse and marriage or brethren cistern or talky turtles or men with intuition or ... you know, the irregular things of life that get overlooked by orderly minds.) Keep 'em comin'. I'm a fan. (Not an umbrella; a fan.) Thanx, Chuck

LOL, indeed all those things do go together well, like whiskers on kittens. This is an unusual poem for me, and an experiment, I'm so glad that it worked. Thanks for reading and commenting. Always, Cat

Absolutely Adorable!

I found little Tinker to be quite uplifting, and definitely put a smile on my face. I'll second, third, and fourth the comments that this makes for a great children's poem! Slight little thing: "His best friend from Australia Is a wild dog he calls dingo." Is probably just me, but seems like a cramming of words. Possibly 'his best friend from Australia, is a wild dog called Dingo'??
