Not Here

Somehow
before those
quick blinky eyes
sneaky-peek
a crafty shift
of perception
smokey gimmicks
mystic assumtions
attentions tuned
to hocus pocus
to glimps at
elusive allusions
to suspend
gullibility
or being
spelled away
by presentation
of viewless craft
fades back in
for applause
still here

needs more

it feels like "the hand is quicker than the eye" but I feel there is an allusion (not illusion) here that I am missing, cheers, Jess

aaaah, just re-read again

and am reminded of "The Loved One" by Evelyn Waugh. The mockery of dressing up the corpse as if life-like. Did you ever see the movie "The Big Chill", that opening sequence? Am I getting closer? cheers, Jess
