Saturday Blue's
As the dawns breaks,
I lay; refusing to succumb
to greeting the new day,
holding onto what’s left
of imaginary dreams,
Silence shattered by distance screams,
the dog barks and the doorbell rings,
Dragging from the vault of slumber,
tripping over P-j’s
that once encased my legs,
hand; … now supporting
Such an aching head,
“The Door Bell” …………I shout,
Whilst searching for pills
To ease this throbbing pain,
Mind racing, so much to do,
and I haven’t begun to-challenge,
The rest of the day through,
Stirring from the nights of slumber,
Kids appear two by two,
Ran tings of ……..Bo’s and who’s,
Telling me what; … their not going to do,
Demands made, but never carried through,
Cereals popping, milk splashing -
kettles whistling; …
kids screaming, head banging -
the dog still barking and the door bell
has – turned blue,
Strive as I might,
fighting back elbows and verbal abuse,
Crossing a war zone; ……Fit for Waterloo,
The dog still barking,
kids now crying
Kettles steaming, and the door bell has turned,
A pinkish …..Blue,
Holding back rover,
I begin …. unlocking-
The castles gate, challenging all,
that might walk through;
bleating undertones
Of; ……verbal abuse,
“Two pints Sir” the milkman cries,
And here’s your paper too,
Turning, glancing at headlines,
Portraying saturday’s news;
A sickness encroaches, overwhelmed;
It’s Bloody Saturday,
and I’m a 9 to five 5 guy;
Just till Friday,
There’s no work for me to do,
Horrified mortified, sounds –somewhat muted,
Except for bums burping,
Kids squealing; dogs barking,
kettle’s now ranting,
toasters spitting slices,
that have turned black and blue,
Calmly walking in solitude
Surveying the outcome; … of breakfast
Losing to waterloo;…….grabbing a cuppa,
Passing the bathroom; …. Full of dread,
I know what I must do,
I’m back off to bed.
That’s what I must do,
