My Friendly Reminder

Try and remember the very first time that a giggle,
bubbled all of the way up your throat,
or when you smiled through tear filled eyes.
That is how you make me feel.

I can vividly remember long summer days,
that seemed to be so endless...
..that it was as if the night's relentless shadows
were embarrassed to spread their gloom.
You are those summer days to my heart.

I remember stoid moments in a crowd,
where lonliness wrapped it's icy cold hands around my heart;
until another pair of eyes peered into mine with a look so friendly,
that their warmth completely faded that insistant chill away.
You are that look to me.

All of these things I can remember,
because I can feel your essence like warm sunshine on my face.
I will forever be grateful that we shared footprints,
and that our voices traded he sentiments of our hearts,
allowing us to be true friends.

For yours is the heart that taught my heart how to embrace another's.
I can remember standing at a window,
and trying to see the day through the teardrops,
that were rolling down the window pane in the rain.

That, my friend...would be the only way my eyes
could interpret the wonders of life,
had you not graced my heart with your smile.
For truly, yours is a special light.

A light that can expain all of the reasons for the contrast of darkness,
and then, chase away all of the shadows in my heart...
..and this is my way of thanking you.
Thanking you for helping to make complete sense of my life,
and the way that I understand life's values.

You are the one that reminds me to cherish my friendships.
Friendships that are both fragile, and indestructive...
..and that, is why I hold you so very dear.
Thank you, for being my truest friend.
