Spring Comes Knockin'

By calendar the spring doth call;
But all the while the snow doth fall,

Which spawns a thirst for alcohol
While I engage in vitriol.

I had to look up vitriol myself

vitriol vit·ri·ol [víttree àwl] (plural vit·ri·ols) noun 1. bitter hatred: extreme bitterness and hatred toward somebody or something, or an expression of this feeling in speech or writing 2. CHEMISTRY glassy metallic sulfate: a glassy metallic sulfate such as copper sulfate or iron sulfate 3. CHEMISTRY sulfuric acid: sulfuric acid (archaic) Encarta® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1999,2000 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Developed for Microsoft by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. but I didn't let that get in the way of my enjoyment of the poem. Very good! We are expecting snow tonight... Always, Cat

To elaborate ...

I intend vitriol to be against the snow falling that won't quit ... even for spring. Yours, Chuck
