the red book lay
unread by anyone
who entered there
I wonder why

What will it impart
to the human heart
What wonder will it
unveil
but a tear drop

To not use the ‘s’

To not use the 's' worked well here. Yes I liked this. Especially these lines:- What wonder wil it unveil but a tear drop from every page Apart from a mispell of 'will' this again has a great flow and some beautiful imagery. I look forward to reading more of your work. :-) Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

Challenging exercise

Not at all easy to write this spontaneously Maggie but you must have impressed your friends with it! So is the red book the one of political fame or perhaps a diary? Keith

Hi Professor Thank you for your response. The story behind this is. I was at a poetry convention i took a class and they asked for six volenteers to come to the front of the room and we were asked there and then to just make up a verse with no S's. We had no time to think - just do. An image came to mind of a big house with a library it was old and dusty with cobwebs and i just saw a big leather armchair a small reading table next to it on the small table was a large red book closed and a table lamp. So this vision will the person ever return as for the big red book it can be filled with whatever the reader wants it to contain. After all this was a few seconds to think up something and this is what popped in to my head. I was not trying to impress anyone just to create but the challenge was good I just love word and number puzzels.

Hi Chrys i was one of six volenteers to got to the front of the stage not knowing what we were to be asked and this was my result apparently only two of us managed to create this. I am glad you enjoyed the challenge I must try another letter of the alphabet but cannot choose yet. hugs maggie R
