Song of the Ocean

I search for you always
red sun setting
streaks of pink and purple
in the blue sky

The ocean glows
in the twilight
I hear the song
of the ocean

I love you
never stopped loving you
never stopped missing you
and all the wonderful
times we share

Grey is the ocean
in the twilight
golden sands
now glow pink
seas merge
below the mountains
all disappears
into the darkness
of my soul

Song of the Ocean

Everything about this poem is serene and safe ... which is why I would like to see you step outside of your boundaries. Poems with themes of walking along the ocean and lamenting the loss of love are a hard sell; and I'm not saying this to be rude or harsh. I have read your work and know that you have talent, but I get a sense that you set invisible rules for yourself long ago that have caught you up inside a comfort zone. So, while this is undeniably a very pretty poem, I'd like to see something from you written in a different vein. Break some rules and see what lies within. ~ Ronda
