psalms 119:105 (sarcastic version, king james)

psalms 119:105
(sarcastic version, king james)

the true teacher[, if there be
one,] defends his pupils against
his own ... influence.
                                            ---Alcott

thy word came a lamp
unto my fretful feet,
so much a quavered light

onto my friggin' path,

oh thou my teacher---
oh gracious teacher,
gen'rous teacher---of

my wretched high-school math.

I nearly spit out ginger ale here, thanks! My high school teachers, all nuns, would be appalled by the blasphemy here! Heathen that I have become, I find it rather amusing! ~ Ronda

As you might imagine ...

I'm ecstatic when I've succeeded at striking someone's funny bone. As a historical aside, although my aptitude for math stands (and stood) at 99th percentile (100th percentile is never granted---to anyone), the particular high-school teacher I had in mind who prompted the penning of this piece managed to demotivate me as to a later pursuit of any subjects having to do with advanced mathematics. Oh, well. The upside? I'm perhaps a more colorful person than who I'd've been if I'd pursued a desert-dry career in math. Yours, Chuck

Chuck

If that is the case, I'll appreciate the colorful person you became and nonchalantly kick that horrible teacher aside for missing your talent, wherever it may lie. For the record, I'm horrible at math. Always have been! ~ Ronda

Ack, math?!

I would not be thankful for the teachings of math. If it's more complex than 2+2, I want no part of it. Great little write, here, and very funny. ~Jess ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Johnny was a chemist's son, but Johnny is no more.
