The Sun Shines on Thursday

Take heart son, the sun shines on Thursday, and in the morning you'll wake up, yes, take heart. Take heart, give love, and life, and imagination. Take heart, and give a deep sigh. For on Monday be prepared to get broken in two, and on Tuesday live with disappointment. Take heart on Wednesday, you're halfway home; the sun will shine on Thursday. Have faith boy, when faith is all you have. Have intelligence, when wisdom will suffice. On Friday wipe your brow, it's the end of the week, but be told: the sun will shine on Thursday.

Planning the week

Hmmm Thursday is coffee and chat day for most I think but Monday for most is certainly a tough one. Fridays are always the day I need most inspiration. But I think the week is summed up for most here. I really like this poem. Easy reading and straight forward. Mark

My only complaint is I knew

My only complaint is I knew the punchline, which is of course the title: it ain't all bad, even in the depths of mundanity (yes, I just invented that word). But that was your choice, that was your opening, your title, your first few lines; and the poem did draw me away from it, only to be reminded as an echo at the end--"but be told: the sun shines on Thursday," but I still think it would be better if the reveal was saved for the end. Nevertheless, you were successful, and I would not be opposed to sticking this to the wall of my cubicle in that terrible office I presently work.

It’s great to see you back

It's great to see you back and posting Mark. I have missed your work. As Jess says this poem really resonates - love the repetition and the flow. Thursday means the weekend is just around the corner.. Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.
