Moment of Clarity

I needed a hug.

You know, the kind that makes everything alright.

But that's childish.

I had said a prayer, but it hadn't changed a thing,

and one cannot wish upon a star in broad daylight,

so that was out of the question.

So, I decided to focus on all things "positive"...

..but, the other side....the "Darkside"was what was shining through...

..so, I had no choice but to invent things to do, to keep my mind busy.

That's when I had it. My very own, "Moment of Clarity".

That moment where one finally realizes,

that repeating the same behavior over, and over again...

..can only yield the same results...

..and that if things are going to change,

so must one's behavior, to insure that change can be realized.

Self-help books never quite cover the subject of "Change",

for one simple reason.

It would silence the chance of a sequel to the book.

You see, there's really no such thing as the "hair of the dog"...

..for to douse one's self with the poisons of yesterday,

one will merely bring about yesterday's results,

kicking on the old perpetual motion machine,

resulting in a failure to change, at best...

..and one's personal  demise, at worst.

This was my moment of clarity,

and I wasn't going to let it slip away...

not this time.

For, the sum of one's decisions,

equals the severity of one's circumstances...

..and that's a truth that no one can deny.

I'll leave not, my fate to chance,

I will, however...put on the "foreman's cap",

and grab the future by the horns.

I'll use each moment as I would a rung on a ladder,

and go anywhere.....except for yesterday.

I still need that hug.....but, I'll collect it,

................................................tomorrow.

I am in total agreement with

I am in total agreement with you on your ideas here but in the process of setting your concepts out you have lost the poem. When the dust has settled maybe you will see a way to say the same thing with far less words and more imagery. A good effort but it needs some thoughtful revision All the best eric
