The end’s beginning

Like the cover of a book

Appearances aren’t always what they seem

Judging myself not to be the man of your dreams

Baffled by a tumultuous battle raging inside

About to be extinguish the flame from a burning star

My returning void feasting on fear

The end of this chapter is near

Happiness like a block of cheese

Insanity is a grater shredding awareness

It hurts to have a conscience

Still there is so much to be said

Feasting upon the bountiful blessings I have been fed

But alas; this hectically busy life I dread

Still trying to silence the voices in my head

Time will solve this; not a med

A lifetime battle until I am dead

Frayed are the ends of my every thread

The switch in rhyme and

The switch in rhyme and spacing well conveys a kind of desperation. The last line is a clever conclusion; I like, above all, line 3: Ah, to be--no, to be able to BELIEVE oneself to be--the man of her dreams! Something seems amiss in line 5; but a cool and enjoyable poem nonetheless.

What's up...

I was reading some of your poems..I will go back later but I thought they were very good..gut wrenching words on paper. it is something we all try to do. this poem has a great message to about your self-respect...I thought it was very good. extinguished in line 5 may fit better, just a suggestion.
