pract'ly all

we've kept a pet white duck

for lo! now some few years

and taught him pract'ly all

we know,

although ...

he's yet to learn to brush

his teeth

and wash behind his ears.

I should, I think ...

probably confess: My sadly dumped, stuck-in-the-freezing-mud duck---who was rescued (more than two years ago) via plastic garbage bag from the local park following a first winter snowstorm (at the time we thought he had but a few hours of life left)---is one of the favorite people in my life. Thanx, Chuck

The pan-humanity (sic?)

What is the word for your love of creatures without being specialist? Whatever, I love it. It expresses your generousity of spirit far more clearly than any liberal ever could. I never could teach my blue-tongue lizard to wash behind his ears (do they have behind-ears?) and his breath proved his dental lack of hygeine. Dig you sparse but effective use of words too. cheers, Jess
