Darkness Alone is the Song

When cars become bedrooms,

and sidewalks undress,

plus the streetlights practice for day;

the sky is full when the pathways dry up,

and most folks are out of the way.

Some folks never see it,

that one time of the night,

it's a fraction of Twilight, so quick!

the ones of the Night,

are out and about,

the unique, and the emotionally sick.

But, there's really true "magic",

at this time of Twilight,

when children spread giggles in dreams;

it's before something happens,

this time of the day,

when the cats start to play, so it seems.

Sometime, if you're up

at this time of the night,

when the shadows play tricks with your head;

it's likely "okay",

you've had a long day,

you're probably dreaming in bed.

The Night speaks in your ear,

this gloomtime exists,

as the nightcrews specifically toil on;

it's "bewitchment delight",

this time of the night,

where darkness alone, is the song.

comment about 'Darkness Alone is the Song'

Once again, Docmaverick, an evocative and melodic piece of verse that really stands out. Inspiration plus brain-work equals good stuff. Carlos Castaneda's books about the brujo Don Juan are full of references to 'the crack between the worlds' when the other dimensions of reality can slip through to this dimension. I have experienced the same intuitive feeling many times and used it in my own writing because it is such a rich and facinating concept. I do a lot of writing at dawn, myself. Your first few lines definitely have the 'hook' to grab the audience too. The song of the stars is super-sonic and takes us into surreality in the ending of your poem.

The Theme a sure reality ...surrealality

Tethered ye' well the realm in between with avoidance of wonder as it is a poem in the here as well as clearly a little around there.When the veil is the screen and the projected movie illuminates beyond the screen.There is the still portal. In ink, dabbler
