And Now You Know

Here we are, just you and me,

and it's so comfortable.

You're like a favorite, old sweater.

One that's great for lounging in on a cloudy day.

I need for you to know something.

Something that I feel way down deep inside.

I love you for who you are,

for you bring out the parts of me that are good.

And I thank you.

I love the way your eyes smile when you laugh,

and I feel your pain when you are down.

You are a shining star.

I don't mean to frighten you.

I'm not going anywhere.

I just thought you should know these things,

for they are as real as night will swallow the day.

The light of day peeks over the horizon,

ever so slightly, so as not to startle all of us.

We will enter the day as different people, for I have shared,

and you listened.....and now you know.
