NETTLE RASH

NETTLE RASH

I should have seen the nettles
before I waist-high waded in
to snatch a blossom from the wall:
                                      my gift to you.

How rash, both act and consequence!
incessant itching in the loins
presaging blistered pain and abstinence:
                                      your gift to me.
