The Quiet Joys of Christmas

Picking out the tree

is a quiet delight,

then decorating it

getting everything just right;

staying up late

wrapping presents, galore...

and knowing in secret

just who they're all for.

A sweet, silent kiss

under the mistletoe,

or quietly making

your "signature bow";

reminiscing with others

Christmas's past,

with long gone friends, or family

and times you did laugh.

Seeing lights, and carolling

on Christmas Eve,

may the quiet joys of Christmas

stay in your heart, and never leave.

Time to be harsh

Whatever we make of it Christmas is a complete lie. It was stolen from the pagan celebration of the Solstice, which this world needs more than the commercialism iconised by a Coca cola commercial (which invented the image of Santa) It is a time to get celebrate the longest day (southern Hemisphere) or the shortest day and the coming of the light. I have no tolerance for Christmas, it is a lie. But presents are nice. cheers, Jess
