Hello Mike Well done. This haiku is stronger than many others I have read. The punchline is very powerful. Possible readings: A poet can write better poems when he does not allow his emotions and his ego to come forward too strongly. I wonder whether you had this reading in mind as well? The poet will be able to write better poetry when he "loses his eye", that's to say, when he stops looking literally at the world. Losing his eye (I) can help the poet to turn to the inner world of intuition, the seat of creativity. Whatever your intentions, the poem lends itself to different readings, enriching the content.
