REMEMBER

REMEMBER   We ran through the woods once, Remember, remember, We ran through the woods once, To hide.   We made a green den there, Remember, remember, We made a green den there, To bide.   We lay down on leaves there, Remember, remember, We lay down on leaves there, And sighed.   We gave our love gladly, Remember, remember, We gave our love gladly, With pride.   We promised a life’s love, Remember, remember, We promised a life’s love, And tried.   You opened that letter, then, Remember, remember, You opened that letter, then, And cried.   I was sent to the wars once, Remember, remember, But I did not return once, I died.
