"Props" to the Wind

It's windy today, in the high desert of California.

Get me. I write that as if it were something special...

..and, it's not.

I take most weather challenges "in stride", as it were.

But, the wind is really something else!

The rain is not my forte, however. In fact, truth be told...

..we are mortal enemies.

The rain taunts me with it's untimeliness, weighs me down with the common cold,

in the chest; and teases me, with the innability to look my best...

..yes, I sincerely despise the rain.

The wind, however.....is a completely different animal, my friend.

The wind is something, that I take my hat off for.

Yep. The wind deserves that kind of respect...for, not only does the wind undress

the trees, scatter life in it's breeze, and cause children to lose their kites...

..and skin their knees; it does a plethora of other things, too.

Things, such as clearing the cobwebs from your head,

sand-pitting your chapped lips-red, or.....wait a minute.

The wind truly IS a force to be reckoned with! I've always used it to my advantage,

like.....not hearing things, because of the wind...or not raking the leaves,

because of the wind...or not house-painting, because of the wind.

That last one always worked well, for this house-painter.

Maybe the wind has taken too many "on the chin", because of me.

Come to think of it, maybe the reason I'm always out and about in the wind,

is because it's wise to me, and my hidden agenda ways.

Do you realize how many hats it's stolen from me?

The wind makes me crazy

ask any school teacher how hard it is to control a class when it is windy. It brings out our wild side, which is not a bad thing (except for school teachers). But when it is raining raise your face to the sky and let the water run over you, instead of hunching up against it. Be washed by the life of the planet. Maybe the rain is colder and less unpleasant where you live, Seattle? In Sydney Australia it is cleansing and grand and cleans the air. I love the direct honesty of your latest poems cheers, Jess
