I write despondent

How dare I?
so many dependent
while I ask why?
Should I depend on other’s favours?
When they come freely it is such joy.
A few kind people change this world
from war and strife
to giving life.
With kind words and touch
there can never be too much
perhaps its just those few
who make life anew
who justify our place on this planet.

I enjoyed this simple homage

I enjoyed this simple homage to "the few" particularly since it is mercifully free of the mawkish sentimentality which too often characterises poems on this subject. btw I wholeheartedly concur with your view. Mike

not Mum, alone, although she is one of the people who make the world better, it was inspired by some people I worked with. cheers Jess

Such simple sentiment to create a profound tribute. Your grasp of every aspect in language usage is invaluable. Best, Ronda
