The Treasure

Breathe.

Inhale deeply,

but not so deeply that you might draw the walls closer.

True.....it's your room.

But if we continue to shrink our areas,

the areas that are ours, and ours alone...

..then we shrink the possibilities,

rending our voices inadequet to greet the dawn.

Listen.

Listen hard to your deepest impulses.

They're usually made of virgin wool,

and can keep your comfort in any storm.

Keeping you warm,

and teaching you to dance to your own music.

Sing.

Sing out loud.

Don't lose yourself in the maddening crowd,

for once you've suited up,

your colored uniform can get in the way...

..giving you no say,

in the good fight.

That place where we truly shine.

Displaying in each of us, that special measure

that we all should treasure,

our individuality.
