Cactus Jack
There was this houseplant at the grocery store, and ol' Jack took it in.
He promised to share his portion of sunlight, and water, and his time and effort...
..in exchange for additional oxygen for his body, compliments for his ego,
and it's beauty for his eyes and soul.
Jack was granted these things.....briefly.
He, in turn, was doused with the sunshine of the plant's promise,
was watered with responsibility, and was nurtured with reciprocated love.
Then, Jack's houseplant expired...due to too much water, sunlight,
and an erratic schedule, all combining to cause it's demise;
removing the extra oxygen, the compliments, and the temporary beauty.
Jack burried the dead houseplant outside, with a small ceremony...
..and an even smaller bouquet of lillies.....which also expired.
The houseplant was revived by the elements, and adding insult to injury...
..Jack learned, out-loud, that houseplants were not his forte'.
I did not join in the ridiculing of ol' Jack, however...
..I purchased him a cactus plant , for his punishment. His FIRST cactus plant.
