Lies to children 3- death

S/he’s gone to sleep a long long time

S/he’s gone to a better place
S/he’s gone to burn in hell
S/he’s gone to come back to a better place
S/he’s gone.

We can remember

Differents ways to talk about Death

Hi Jess, I enjoyed this a lot as I often wonder about death. I'd love to discuss with you, each line of this work of yours. People living in different parts of the globe would think about death differently. To a baby who can't understand death at all, you'd say, "S/he’s gone to sleep a long long time" "S/he’s gone to a better place/to heaven/to God" is often said by christians. Though "S/he’s gone to burn in hell" is rarely said about a real dead person,"Burning in Hell" theory is used to scare & discipline children. Buddhists believe that there is re-birth, so they'd say "S/he’s gone to come back to a better place" Love this work, Nilmini

Lies to children

I hate each of these lies equally. In the face of recently losing my father-in-law, the question of what to tell my six-year-old became a topic of discussion. I settled it with, "He will always be in your heart." I hope it was enough. Best, Ronda
