Burned By Love
As another day starts
In this land of broken hearts
He pours himself a harmless drink
It clears his mind and lets him think
Friends tell him to take their advice
Ironically it is not good to be to nice
Her voice plays like a song in his head
This love is not a hundred percent dead
Every morning doesn’t start with her kiss
A perfect smile is what he will always miss
No more conversations until the next day
I love you, is what he wants to hear her say
He tries to keep his pain hidden deeply within
Until he meets that daily dose of whiskey or gin
The bartender listens to his story every night
Burned by love, did he play his cards right?
As he tells his pain, you can see his tears
How many bottles will replace all those years
