received from a threatening IRS agent. When I objected to his continuing threats, his last response before slamming down his phone: "Being who we are, we get what we want." Am I wrong ... or isn't that the sort of signing off I might get from a spokesperson for the Mob? On another occasion an agent alerted me that they would be ordering a particular thing from me ... and then proceeded to tell me what I would be paid. A delicious moment for me: I said something like, "You'll pay what I charge---and well in advance of my even starting to do the work on it." It was a pleasure hanging up on him. Needless to say, the Mob (er, I mean the Government) never followed through on the promised order. There are many more stories I could tell ... and not enough time in the day to tell them.
