Darkness in Darfur
The weather's getting warmer,Putting pressure on the land,Turning once arable farmland,Into nothing more than sand. The rulers of Sudan,Drew a crazy plan,Making two competing peoples,The members of one land. The Arabs in the North,The Blacks live in the South,One grows rich on oil,The other lives hand to mouth. The fighting began in 2003,When the government started losing,They called the Janjaweed. They raped and killed,And used all devices,Now it's the worst,Humanitarian crisis. Khartoum denies involvement,In their attacks,But everybody knows,Which side it backs. We should do something,That much is true,But I don't know what,We ought to do. This story is bloody,And quite sad,But if we intervene,Next we'll be in Chad.
