We Break The Oath

when the oath breaks

all will be told

as we reach past

the lies we were told

nobody asked us

what we know

without a word

we carried on

kept to our selves

guarded the oath

a secret badge

heads pointed down

to avoid the suspicion

eyes away and fidget

do not expose this oath

hold these moments dear

it is our little game

you may feel better

you might even like it

you did let it happen

a day will come though

the hate will grab you

tear out your guts

then call you a coward

that victim is the reason

to shatter the delusion

a survivor  in bloom

no longer held in seclusion

a fist joined against the oath

to bring it down in ruin

Powerful

Like this a lot. It made me think. At first I thought you were writing about a secret society - and then came the twist.. Nice work. Kaz x It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.

Purple is right...very powerful

It speaks many verses to multiple sides' struggles. Who is the victim and who is the savior? Perhaps different points of view enlighten each.

Thank you for your insightful comment

This poem was written during a bout of insomnia that started with a night terror.Putting it in writing really does help. I have two friends that I grew up with who were both molested and we never knew we had that in common. In ink, David
