No Houdini

Locked in a straight jacket

Struggling to break free

I have no escape route

No magicians key

Bound by the trappings

Of life’s locks and chains

On the verge of breaking

Trying to stay sane

I’ll lie here inert

Maybe stillness is the key

Perhaps someone will come

To break these chains and set me free

I have no clever way out

For I am no Houdini

I have no great illusions

I’m right here ,why can’t you see me?

calliope your poem

I hope this is not you now. I hope it was not you in the past. But if it was or is I think we all know how you feel. Feeling trapped and alone is a real downer. All I can say is join us here :-) Maybe soon things will be ok there. Truly. Mark On the mechanics of your poem the only thing I seemed to haver a problem with was the two "out" are very close together and kind of twisted my toungue. Joy and Peace
