Symptoms of testosterone, Part 2 (revised)

A predilection,
oft pursued,
for high velocitys
on wheels, waves or wings.
Causes grievous atrocities
and premature endings

Bright loud explosions,
and rampant destruction.
See men drawn like flies
to a demolition ball in action,
renting Die Hard lies
and Arnies excesses
Causes grievous atrocities
like cultural distresses.

Prognosis uncertain,
gender survival threatened.
Prescription for this hex?
Oh that’s simple.
Frequent joyous sex!

Thanks

Good to have a good laugh waiting when I get home from work. I found most of this most amusing. I felt the part about the twin towers a bit confusing as in exactly what was exciting to see fall? Or is exciting not in the meaning of happily excited? I love the way you write ! Truly, Mark

an

interesting, short, and very broad discourse on the consequences of what happens when we watch too much boxing or lift too much. (my experience). not sure about the twin towers part, ehh. sex heightens testosterone, doesn't it? biochemical high? from my viewpoint the best part was: "a predilection oft pursued, for high velocitys, on wheels, waves or wings." gemlike. could use some work, but fascinating! nice job

eeek, thanks Mark and Quill

for pointing out that ambiguity, I certainly did not mean to refer to those who jumped or died within. I replaced "Those suckers" with "capitalism", couldn't resist the political jab, even though it does not fit the poem. Could have used "them crumpling and", what do you think? cheers, Jess

I Find ...

interesting your application of sight to sound, as in "bright loud explosions." Without a comma inserted after "bright," it seems to mean "brightly loud." Don't know if that was your intent; but regardless, I like the sound-picture as presented. Too bad, though, that the Twin Towers acts were real. If merely symbolic, the destruction has/had (might have/have had) impact in that vein. However, with so many lives lost from the "intended murders so accomplished with malice aforethought"---my words---the symbolism is less real and comes on the scene overshadowed by the horrificness of the shocking (and awful) reality. Please recall that many passengers of public commercial planes also lost their lives. What could they possibly have done to deserve what happened? And of course many of the people caught in the Towers were either visiting or simply trying to make their livings. And then rescuers falling who attempted rescues ... It becomes tiresomely tedious, the religious/ideological motivations for commissions of acts so murderous. I'm sorry for the heaviness of my words here, but my heart sinks into its familiar pessimistic funk when feeling driven to comment on such as this ... unforgivable behaviors that ought to've been banished by human beings long, long ago. It's hard for me to laugh here. Enough from me ... Thanx, Chuck

definitely

like this version better. y'know, i don't know: even if it hadn't been in my "backyard" knowing something like that had happened to other human beings would bother me. i didn't know any of the people massacred in the holocaust, but i'll tell you, when i see some of those tapes of ovens, dead children and something in me is disturbed deeply; and i've never lived in germany. i loved the "renting Die Hard lies" part, i've always loathed those movies and i hate Bruce Willis. nice job.

Are you suggesting men who seek exploits on "Wheels, waves and wings" needing sex? hehe So very true, right after college I took a job working for a drag strip raceway. I have seen it first hand. I was amazed what babies the big macho racers all acted like. Jacks

I'm sorry

that the original version was misconstrued. Is there a chance that I might read it - or is it gone forever? I know you far too well to assume that you saw folly that day. My best to you, Ronda
