Enough Sorrow For Today

I saw a frail young woman meet the Lord in the middle of the night.

Her mother tenderly holding her in her arms, as she gave up the fight.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of…

Her frail body, ravaged by cancer, well she had suffered enough.

I held a frightened animal as he was euthanized.

The abuse of him was apparent as I looked into his eyes.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of.

As he entered into his rest, I stroked his head with love.

I led my horse outside the barn to prepare her there to die.

I saw that she had given up as I looked into her eyes.

There are no words to say what I was thinking of.

As the needle slipped into her vein, I told her of my love.

Sometimes the loss I feel is too painful to think about.

Sometimes the loss I feel makes me want to scream and shout.

There are no words to say what I am thinking of.

Sometimes I need the comfort that can only come from Heaven above.

Catherine, this is so deeply sad

and yet loving. I cried, it took me back to holding my own dear friend, Chinese, a Siamese cat in my arms as the vital spark left. The repetition of that line is so effective and it is so true. My only whinge is that I get my comfort from another place 8) cheers, Jess

These two new poems piqued my interest

and I checked out your profile and read all your earlier poems. Firstly welcome back! It's been a while. Secondly, really like your poetry and hope you will share more. There is a fundamental difference between our beliefs but I won't hold that against you if you don't hold it against me. 8) Two poets that have joined since last you posted who I think you might like are conect11 and waterdragon, amongst a host of others, look forward to hearing your feedback too. If you want to be challenged you might check out my "Killing God". and for more about where I am coming from "Watermana" cheers, Jess

Hello Jess

Hello again Jess, Thanks again for reading and commenting. I will get to your poetry this afternoon. As far as your beliefs and mine... I cannot force anyone to believe the way that I do. I just appreciate that you are not attacking me for it, as some have done. Best Wishes, Cathy

Dear Jess

Life is sad at times...these are things I experienced. Amidst everything I do...I work part time at a veterinary clinic. I have seen some sadness. Sometimes the only peace I get from some of these situations is: 'the animal has dignity when I hold them as they are leaving this world...I make sure of it.' Thanks for reading my poetry, Jess. Cathy
